Espaços internet e novas formas de sociabilidade: um estudo exploratório

Abstract

Em Portugal existem centenas de Espaços públicos para utilização da Internet por parte dos cidadãos, instalados um pouco por todo o país; autarquias, associações e outras instituições, designados por "Espaços Internet". Não são conhecidos estudos anteriores que nos permitam compreender as dinâmicas sociais que estes espaços potencialmente apresentam. Esta dissertação tem como objetivo estudar os comportamentos de indivíduos jovens que utilizam os computadores nos Espaços procurando, através de um estudo de tipo exploratório, compreender as motivações para a sua frequência e o tipo de utilização que é realizada. Este estudo utilizou um desenho de investigação de tipo survey. Os dados foram recolhidos por questionário, administrado a uma amostra de utilizadores do espaço Internet. Após a análise dos resultados, consideramos poder afirmar que, no contexto estudado, estão a surgir novas formas de interação e novos hábitos sociais que conduzem a novas formas de sociabilidade. /ABSTRACT ‐ In Portugal, there are hundreds of public spaces all over the country with the Internet to be used by citizens ‐ autarchies, associations and other institutions ‐ called "Espaços Internet ". There are no previous studies which allow us to understand the social dynamics these spaces potentially present. This dissertation aims at studying the behaviour of the young people who use computers in these spaces, trying to, through an exploratory study, understand their reasons to attend them and the type of use made of them. This study used an investigation design survey type. The data were collected through a questionnaire, handled to a sample of users of the Internet space. After the results analysis, we think we can say that, in the studied context, there are new interaction ways and new social habits emerging, which are leading to new forms of sociability.
