Abstract: In 1979, Jean-Gérard Gorges brought a new insight to the interpretation of the roman villae. Almost forty years have passed, adding twenty on the first Lusitanian round-table, so it is time to highlight some of the recent developments in the research over these monumental sites that still mark the Lusitanian rural landscape.
