A filosofia da técnica como hermenêutica: de Freud a Heidegger e Marcuse

Abstract

A presente investigação procura demonstrar em que sentido a Filosofia da Técnica das Humanidades poderá ser compreendida como uma crítica «meta-hermenêutica» da modernidade. Para tal, esta investigação assenta as suas raízes sobre a problematização filosófica que Heidegger e Marcuse desenvolvem acerca da relação que se estabelece entre a técnica e a linguagem no decurso da modernidade tardia, tomando o «mal-estar» cultural diagnosticado por Freud no início do séc. XX como o seu ponto de partida. Tal empreendimento veio a ser construído em dois momentos. O primeiro diz respeito à delimitação de um estado da arte, que procura fornecer os fundamentos necessários para o levantamento da questão que inquire pelo caráter «metahermenêutico » da crítica da modernidade que está patente na Filosofia da Técnica das Humanidades — designação da qual nos viemos apropriar a partir de Carl Mitcham. Reflete-se, por isso, neste primeiro momento, acerca de alguns dos mais importantes desenvolvimentos que compõem a investigação feita em Hermenêutica e Filosofia da Técnica, com o intuito de legitimar a questão à qual esta investigação se pretende apresentar como uma possível resposta. Num segundo momento, procurar-se-á responder à questão acerca do caráter «meta-hermenêutico» da Filosofia da Técnica das Humanidades. Refletindo acerca das problematizações filosóficas da técnica que são avançadas por Heidegger e Marcuse — enquanto dois dos principais impulsionadores da Filosofia da Técnica Contemporânea —, procurar-se-á demonstrar ao leitor como neles se manifesta, desde logo, uma crítica «meta-hermenêutica» da modernidade tardia. Esta crítica que procura ser evidenciada, vem por sua vez denunciar a crescente tecnificação da linguagem como um dos principais determinantes da conceção técnica do mundo que tem vindo a demarcar todo o pensamento moderno, e que se tem vindo assim a impor como um dos principais problemas a pensar pelo humanismo contemporâneo; Abstract: Philosophy of Technology as Hermeneutics: From Freud to Heidegger and Marcuse The present research intends to demonstrate how Humanities Philosophy of Technology can be understood as a «meta-hermeneutical» critique of modernity. This research lays its roots upon the philosophical problematization that Heidegger and Marcuse develop concerning the relationship that, throughout modernity, has been established between technology and language, taking the «cultural discontent» that Freud diagnoses at the beginning of de twentieth century as its point of departure. Such an undertaking came to be built in two moments. The first concerns the delimitation of a state of the art, that seeks to provide the necessary foundations for the raising of the question that inquires about the «meta-hermeneutical» character of the critique that underlies Humanities Philosophy of Technology — a designation coined by Carl Mitcham’s work. It is therefore reflected upon some of the most important developments that make up the research that has been made in contemporary Hermeneutics and Philosophy of Technology, always under the intention of legitimizing the question to which this thesis attempts to present itself as a possible answer. In the second moment, an attempt shall be made to answer the question that inquires about the «meta-hermeneutical» character of Humanities Philosophy of Technology. Reflecting upon the problematization that Heidegger and Marcuse — as two of the most influential philosophers of technology — develop concerning modern technology as a starting point, we shall try to demonstrate how, in the thought of both of these authors, a «meta-hermeneutical» critique of modernity is already laid upon. This critique, which seeks to be evidenced throughout this research, denunciates the evergrowing technification of language as one of the major determinations of the technical conception of the world that rules over modern thought, and that has also been imposed as the most important problem to be thought upon by contemporary humanism.
