Jugoslávia: o conflito de 1991 a 1995: um desmembramento anunciado

Abstract

O conflito na ex-Jugoslávia revestiu-se de uma grande complexidade, de uma multiplicidade de conflitos ocorridos entre 1991 e 1995, até à assinatura do Acordo de Dayton, e ainda do número de partes em conflito. Ao longo de três anos e meio confrontaram-se sérvios contra muçulmanos, muçulmanos contra croatas, croatas contra sérvios e inclusivamente muçulmanos contra muçulmanos. Os cessar-fogos sucederam-se, uns após outros, sem que nenhum fosse efetivamente respeitado, tal como aconteceu aos sucessivos planos de paz, intentados uma e outra vez pela comunidade internacional, até que a paciência e a própria esperança numa resolução do conflito quase se esgotaram. Finalmente em 1995, não sem antes a NATO ter desencadeado várias ofensivas contra os sérvios da Bósnia, foi finalmente assinado o Acordo de Dayton que, desta vez, com o apoio da maior potência mundial e dos seus aliados, finalmente acabou com a matança entre os povos da ex-Jugoslávia. Este trabalho pretende relatar os acontecimentos do conflito propriamente dito, focando com maior pormenor o da Bósnia-Herzegovina, entre 1991 e 1995, de uma forma tão imparcial quanto possível, sem deixar de referir os antecedentes históricos que marcaram os povos constituintes da Jugoslávia, porque aquilo que um povo é hoje, é o resultado da sua própria História, referindo ainda o papel da chamada “Comunidade Internacional” ao longo do conflito, e como a sua ação (ou inação) contribuiu para o cessar ou prolongamento do conflito e pretende ainda apresentar, à luz das teorias existentes, as possíveis causas para a maior carnificina em plena Europa, desde o final da II Guerra Mundial. /ABSTRACT: The conflict in former Yugoslavia was a conflict characterized by a major complexity, by a multiplicity of conflicts between 1991 and 1995, until the Dayton Agreement, and parties involved in the conflict. For three years and half there were confrontations between Serbs and Muslims, Muslims and Croats, Croats and Serbs and even Muslims fought amongst each other. The cease-fire succeeded, one after another, none of them being respected, the same happening with the peace plans, attempted several times by the international community, to a point where patience and hope on a solution itself almost ran out. Finally, in 1995, not before NATO actions against Serbs in Bosnia taking place, the Dayton Agreement was finally signed, this time with the support of the greatest world power and its allies, and it seems to have ended the carnage between the peoples of the former Yugoslavia. This work intends to describe the events of the conflict itself, focusing with more detail that one in Bosnia-Herzegovina, between 1991 and 1995, in an impartial way, without forgetting the historical background of the peoples in Yugoslavia, because what a people is today, is the reflection of its own History, also referring the actions of the so called “International Community” during the conflict, and how its action (or inaction) has contributed to the ending or lasting of the conflict, and also intends to present, based in the existing theories, the possible causes to the major carnage in the Europe itself, after Second World War…
