Abstract

Contributos para Recuperação do Património Rural na Ribeira Grande Vida e Memória da Paisagem Cultural Monfortense Presente dissertação procura uma abordagem metodológica para a recuperação da paisagem cultural. Centra-se nos valores existentes na paisagem e no relacionamento da população na zona rural de Portugal com a sua paisagem e formas de manutenção da sua identidade. Para além disso, o trabalho tenta avaliar que tipo de estruturas e elementos são relevantes para a ligação com a sua paisagem local. No estudo caso do vale de Ribeira Grande, município de Monforte, Alentejo, procura-se a memória cultural da paisagem rural. A investigação baseia-se nas três fontes de conhecimento da paisagem: documentação histórica, informação obtida pelas entrevistas com utilizadores da paisagem locais e trabalho de campo sobre o estado atual da paisagem. Os resultados de cada vertente compõem a teia de componentes mais importantes. A compilação das teias leva à identificação das pedras angulares da memória cultural da paisagem e suas ligações. A estrutura da memória cultural da paisagem é composta por elementos concretos da paisagem - pedras angulares e suas ligações (marcas significativas no terreno de uso passado ou presente) e componentes de identidade (intangível, de ligação afetiva, simbólica). A estrutura identificada pode ser entendida como base para a implantação de novos usos e intervenções para a multifuncionalidade. A identificação da estrutura da memória cultural da paisagem pode ser considerada como suporte metodológico para ajudar a manter a organização sustentável da paisagem adaptada a novas funções. ***/Abstract - Contribution to the Revitalization of Rural Heritage of Ribeira Grande Life and Memory of Monforte's cultural landscape This thesis searches for the methodological approach on revitalization of the cultural landscape. It concentrates on values existing within the landscape and on the way people in rural area in Portugal are attached or not to their landscape and how they keep its identity. Furthermore, the work tries to evaluate which kind of structures and elements are relevant for people's attachment to their local landscape Within the case study, small river valley of Ribeira Grande in the municipality of Monforte, S-E of Portugal, the cultural memory of the rural landscape is being searched for. The present investigation is based on three streams of landscape knowledge: historical documentation, information obtained through interviews to the local stakeholders - landscape users, and terrain research of the present state of the landscape. The results of each one of these searches, gives form to a net of most important landscape components, whose compilation leads to the identification of the "angular stones" of the cultural memory of the landscape and their ”correlations". The cultural memory structure consists of material components, "angular stones” (traces of use in history and in presence) and identity components (intangible connections to landscape, associations, affective and symbolic meanings). The identified structure might be understood as a base for implementation of the new uses and interventions towards the multifunctionality of the existing landscape. The cultural memory structure of the rural landscape can be considered as the methodological source which would help to maintain the landscape structures and sustainability while adapting to new functions.
