é sistematicamente inacabado, sujeito a eternas alterações; ABSTRACT:This work appeared out of the will to track the roads lived by a person who is, in
my point of view, interesting and of great emotional depth - in short, it is the life of a
character and even though being only a path written on paper, she remained human (with
all the positive and negative aspects that come with it). The figure took shape
immediately: Simone Veil. Then remained the choice between choosing a biography or an
autobiography, the latter one having already found its mirror in our language – Uma Vida
by Simone Veil (translation by Sara Canelhas). It would certainly have been more
interesting to go on with a comparative study between the two versions but the preference
was given to a not translated text – Simon Veil: Destin by Maurice Szafran.
After the choice was made it became urgent to cast a critical and detailed glance
over the original writing in order to infer about the very own beating of the text and to
start to outline strategies. However only the field study revealed gradually which was the
best way to follow. On the one hand this allowed me a reflection about the act itself of
translating, and, on the other hand it allowed me to come to the conclusion that this
process is a permanent challenge and that its product is systematically unfinished and
subject to eternal changes. |
