Abstract: | Esta dissertação aspira poder colaborar no âmbito das Ciências da Educação para
o delinear de estratégias educativas que conduzam ao conhecimento, valorização,
preservação e divulgação do património.
Tendo como base esta aspiração despontou um esquema de investigação que se
revela importante e orientado para a prática docente ao fazer um estudo descritivo,
baseado na recolha da opinião de alunos do 4º ano de escolaridade do 1º Ciclo do
Ensino Básico num agrupamento de escolas de Portalegre acerca do conceito de
património.
Reconhecer a importância da “Educação Patrimonial” no contexto educativo é
uma tarefa fundamental que apenas a Escola poderá dar resposta, formando indivíduos
preocupados com o conhecimento, valorização, preservação e divulgação do
património.
O património seja ele: arqueológico, industrial, artístico, móvel, etnográfico,
educativo, natural ou mesmo construído é um recurso educativo riquíssimo ao permitir
uma abordagem trans e interdisciplinar tendo como ponto convergente a fomentação de
cidadãos informados e conscientes da importância desta temática.

The concept of heritage in students in 4th grade of the 1st cycle of basic
education
This dissertation aims to collaborate within the scope of Education Sciences to
draw educational strategies that lead to knowledge, valorisation, preservation and
dissemination of heritage.
Based on this aspiration a scheme of investigation has emerged, which reveals to
be important and oriented to teaching practice by making a descriptive study, based on
the collection of opinions of students in the 4th grade of the 1st cycle of basic education
in a group of schools of Portalegre about the concept of heritage.
Recognizing the importance of "heritage education" in the educational context is
a fundamental task that only School can meet, training individuals concerned with
knowledge, appreciation, preservation and dissemination of heritage.
The heritage whether it is: archaeological, industrial, artistic, mobile,
ethnographic, educational, natural or even built is a rich educational resource that allows
us a trans- and interdisciplinary approach having as converging point the fostering of
well-informed citizens aware of this issue.
