Abordagem terapêutica à ingestão de corpo estranho em cães e gatos

Abstract

O presente relatório visa a análise das afeções acompanhadas e os procedimentos realizados durante o estágio curricular no AniCura Atlântico Hospital Veterinário. Encontra-se estruturado em duas partes: a primeira corresponde à descrição e análise da casuística acompanhada no hospital veterinário; e a segunda consiste numa monografia subordinada ao tema “Abordagem Terapêutica à Ingestão de Corpo Estranho em Cães e Gatos”, que inclui a apresentação de dois casos clínicos acompanhados durante o estágio. A ingestão de corpo estranho é uma afeção comum em animais de companhia e acomete, sobretudo, cães machos jovens. A presença prolongada de um objeto estranho no trato gastrointestinal apresenta um potencial inflamatório, obstrutivo e/ou perfurativo, o que justifica um diagnóstico e intervenção terapêutica urgentes. A abordagem terapêutica traduz-se na remoção do objeto e correção das lesões secundárias, podendo ser conservativa, endoscópica ou cirúrgica. O prognóstico pode ser favorável, se o objeto for removido e a obstrução resolvida atempadamente; - Abstract: Therapeutic Approach to Foreign Body Ingestion in Dogs and Cats This report presents the analysis of clinical conditions observed and procedures performed during the curricular internship at AniCura Atlântico Veterinary Hospital. It’s structured in two parts: the first includes the description and analysis of the clinical cases observed; and the second consists of a monograph entitled “Therapeutic Approach to Foreign Body Ingestion in Dogs and Cats,” including two clinical cases followed during the internship. Foreign body ingestion is a common condition in small animals, predominantly affecting young male dogs. The prolonged presence of a foreign object within the gastrointestinal tract possesses inflammatory, obstructive, and/or perforative potential, thereby warranting prompt diagnosis and therapeutic intervention. The therapeutic approach involves the removal of the foreign object and the correction of any secondary lesions, which may be achieved through conservative, endoscopic, or surgical means. The prognosis is generally favorable, provided that the object is removed and the obstruction resolved in a timely manner.
