Da Intimidade à Individualidade: o Papel da Sexualidade nos Relacionamentos e na Diferenciação do Self

Abstract

A satisfação sexual é amplamente reconhecida como um fator chave não apenas no bem-estar relacional, mas também para a construção da individualidade dentro da relação. A satisfação com o relacionamento amoroso, por sua vez, é profundamente influenciada pela intimidade sexual. Neste sentido, a satisfação com a relação sexual emerge como um elemento que fortalece os laços afetivos, enquanto promove o equilíbrio entre a proximidade emocional e a autonomia pessoal. A diferenciação do self é impactada pela qualidade de vida sexual, permitindo que os indivíduos mantenham uma conexão saudável e autêntica com os seus parceiros, sem perder de vista os seus próprios limites e desejos. A presente investigação teve como objetivo estudar a relação entre as três principais variáveis, bem como estudar o efeito mediador da satisfação sexual entre a diferenciação do self e a satisfação com o relacionamento amoroso, numa amostra de 187 adultos. Verificaram-se correlações significativas entre as variáveis e verificou-se que a satisfação sexual medeia parcialmente a relação entre a diferenciação do self e a satisfação com o relacionamento amoroso. Estes resultados sugerem que a intimidade sexual, e a satisfação com a mesma, podem reforçar tanto a coesão como a autonomia no vínculo conjugal. Satisfaction with romantic relationships, in turn, is deeply influenced by sexual intimacy. In this sense, satisfaction with sexual relations emerges as an element that strengthens emotional bonds, while promoting a balance between emotional closeness and personal autonomy. Self-differentiation is impacted by the quality of sexual life, allowing individuals to maintain a healthy and authentic connection with their partners, without losing sight of their own limits and desires. The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between the three main variables, as well as to study the mediating effect of sexual satisfaction between self-differentiation and satisfaction with romantic relationships, in a sample of 187 adults. Significant correlations were found between the variables, and it was found that sexual satisfaction partially mediates the relationship between self-differentiation and satisfaction with romantic relationships. These results suggest that sexual intimacy, and satisfaction with it, can reinforce both cohesion and autonomy in marital bonds. Limitations, practical implications, and suggestions for future studies were discussed.
