Sexualidade e Deficiência Intelectual: Atitudes Sociais

Abstract

A presente investigação teve como objetivo a caracterização das atitudes em relação à sexualidade das pessoas com deficiência intelectual. Procurou compreender se podem existir distinções nas atitudes consoante as dimensões da sexualidade, assim como verificar a possibilidade de diferenças em função de variáveis como o sexo, idade, nível de escolaridade, conhecer, ter contacto frequente e grau de parentesco com uma pessoa com esse tipo de deficiência. A investigação foi quantitativa com recurso aos instrumentos: Attitudes Towards Sexuality of Individuals with Intellectual Disability (ASEXID) e Attitudes to Sexuality Questionnaire-Individuals with an Intellectual Disability (ASQ-ID). A amostragem foi não probabilística intencional com a técnica bola de neve e por conveniência. Os dados analisados revelaram uma prevalência de atitudes positivas face à sexualidade da pessoa com DI, apresentando maior expressão na dimensão “Masturbação” e variações para as variáveis observadas. Reflete-se um destaque na dimensão “Parentalidade” associada à dimensão “Casamento”, com atitudes mais conservadoras; Sexuality and Intellectual Disability: Social Attitudes - Abstract: The aim of this study was to characterize attitudes towards sexuality among people with intellectual disabilities. It sought to understand whether there may be differences in attitudes depending on the dimensions of sexuality, as well as to verify the possibility of differences based on variables such as gender, age, level of education, knowledge, frequent contact, and degree of kinship with a person with this type of disability. The research was quantitative, using the following instruments: Attitudes Towards Sexuality of Individuals with Intellectual Disability (ASEXID) and Attitudes to Sexuality Questionnaire-Individuals with an Intellectual Disability (ASQ-ID). The sampling was non-probabilistic, intentional, using the snowball technique and convenience sampling. The data analyzed revealed a prevalence of positive attitudes towards the sexuality of people with ID, with greater expression in the “Masturbation” dimension and variations for the variables observed. There is a notable emphasis on the dimension of “Parenting” associated with the dimension of “Marriage,” with more conservative attitudes.
