La Société Nouvelle Huilerie et Savonnerie Citec (SN Citec) de Bobo-Dioulasso (Burkina Faso) de 1941 à 2023: Histoire et valorisation patrimoniale

Abstract

Ce mémoire de master explore un pan du patrimoine industriel burkinabé à partir d’une étude de cas basée sur la Société Nouvelle Huilerie et Savonnerie Citec (SN Citec), l’une des plus anciennes et grandes entreprises agroalimentaires du Burkina Faso. Cette société a été créée en 1941 et fut implantée dans la ville de Bobo-Dioulasso (deuxième ville et capitale économique du pays) avec pour dénomination CITEC-Huilerie (Comptoir des Industries Textiles et Cotonnières). À partir de là, son évolution s’est caractérisée par une pluralité de mutations (augmentation de son capital et changement de son nom en 1967, délocalisation en 1972, nationalisation en 1984 et privatisation en 1995) qui ont par la suite engendré d’énormes impacts et empreintes sur le développement socio-économique de cette ville. Considérée de nos jours comme la « doyenne » des industries agroalimentaires du Burkina Faso par son ancienneté et sa grandeur, cette société constitue dans son ensemble un patrimoine inestimable pour la ville de Bobo-Dioulasso en particulier et pour le Burkina Faso en général. C’est pourquoi, ce mémoire se veut à travers une analyse rétrospective aider non seulement à retracer et à comprendre l’histoire de cette société, mais aussi connaître ses impacts socio-économiques et identifier les éléments distinctifs de son patrimoine afin de proposer des solutions pour sa sauvegarde et sa valorisation; - The Société Nouvelle Huilerie et Savonnerie Citec (SN Citec) of Bobo-Dioulasso (Burkina Faso) from 1941 to 2023 : History and heritage valorisation - Abstract : This master's thesis explores a segment of Burkinabe industrial heritage through a case study of the Société Nouvelle Huilerie et Savonnerie Citec (SN Citec), one of the oldest and largest agri-food companies in Burkina Faso. This company was founded in 1941 and established in the city of Bobo-Dioulasso (the country's second largest city and economic capital) under the name CITEC-Huilerie (Comptoir des Industries Textiles et Cotonnières). Since then, its development has been characterized by several changes (capital increase and name change in 1967, relocation in 1972, nationalization in 1984 and privatization in 1995) which have subsequently had enormous impacts and imprints on the socio-economic development of this city. Considered today as the "oldest" agri-food industry in Burkina Faso due to its age and size, this company constitutes an invaluable heritage for the city of Bobo-Dioulasso and for Burkina Faso in general. This is why, this thesis, through a retrospective analysis, aims not only to help retrace and understand the history of this company, but also to know its socio-economic impacts and identify the distinctive elements of its heritage to propose solutions for its preservation and valorisation.
