Educação para a cidadania no ensino não superior em STP

Abstract

No mundo contemporâneo, a conceção da cidadania alcançou uma relação estreita com as práticas na Educação para a Cidadania em contexto escolar. O presente trabalho, cujo título é EDUCAÇÃO PARA A CIDADANIA NO ENSINO NÃO SUPERIOR EM STP, tem como tema central a Educação para a Cidadania, e tem como objetivo entender a qualidade da aplicação, ou implementação, desta ferramenta pelo Sistema Educativo do Arquipélago de S. Tomé e Príncipe, os sucessos e os constrangimentos, nomeadamente no ensino não superior. É nosso intuito com este trabalho refletir e equacionar algumas questões associadas ao comportamento social dos cidadãos e como a Educação Oficial pode contribuir ou influenciar a orientação deste comportamento em STP. Para isso, tendo em conta as exigências consensuais entre os estudiosos da educação para a cidadania na sociedade atual, idealizamos um modelo de investigação exploratória, envolvendo uma amostra de alunos e de professores, tanto do 1º como do 2º ciclo, dos dois níveis do ensino, Básico e Secundário, bem assim como responsáveis atuantes no sistema educativo, com a finalidade de diagnosticar o projeto e as práticas neste domínio, no Sistema Educativo santomense e as possíveis consequências que pode ter no comportamento social dos cidadãos santomenses, em particular no seio da população juvenil em idade escolar. No estudo, não consideramos, enquanto interlocutores, os atores que não estão diretamente ligados ao ensino oficial, tais como pais e encarregados, a autarquia, as congregações religiosas, e outros. Em conclusão deste estudo, verificámos que as ações relativas à promoção de cidadania em STP estão muito aquém das expetativas globais para as sociedades hodiernas, segundo o pensamento mais defendido na comunidade científica ocidental. Verificámos também que os atores envolvidos neste processo, nomeadamente, os alunos, os professores e os responsáveis educativos, têm consciência das insuficiências teóricas e materiais que são fatores de uma boa prática de Educação para a Cidadania no Ensino oficial, e da necessidade de percorrer um caminho mais dedicado a fim de alcançar o devido sucesso na sua implementação, e sugeriram algumas ideias sobre as possíveis metodologias para que esse processo possa vir a ter êxito a mais ou menos breve trecho. Outrossim, avançamos, ao longo do texto, algumas ideias e recomendações que nos parecem poder contribuir para a promoção da cidadania e a consequente formação de indivíduos com a maturidade capaz de idealizar conceções de bem geradores de harmonia social; - ABSTRACT: In the contemporary world, the conception of citizenship has achieved a close relationship with practices in Citizenship Education in the school context. The present work, whose title is EDUCATION FOR CITIZENSHIP IN NON-HIGHTER EDUCATION IN STP, has as its central theme Education for Citizenship, and aims to understand the quality of the application, or implementation, of this tool by the Educational System of the Archipelago of S Tomé and Príncipe, successes and constraints, particularly in non-higher education. It is our intention with this work to reflect and equate some issues associated with the social behavior of citizens and how Official Education can contribute or influence the orientation of this behavior in STP. For this, taking into account the consensual demands among scholars of education for citizenship in today's society, we devised an exploratory research model, involving a sample of students and teachers, both from the 1st and 2nd cycles, from both levels of education. , Basic and Secondary, as well as those responsible for working in the educational system, with the aim of diagnosing the project and practices in this field, in the Santomean Educational System and the possible consequences that it may have on the social behavior of São Tomé citizens, in particular within the school-age youth population. In the study, we did not consider, as interlocutors, actors who are not diretly linked to official education, such as parents and guardians, the municipality, religious congregations, and others. In conclusion of this study, we verified that the actions related to the promotion of citizenship in STP are far from the global expectations for today's societies, according to the most defended thinking in the western scientific community. We also verified that the actors involved in this process, namely, students, teachers and educational leaders, are aware of the theoretical and material insufficiencies that are factors of a good practice of Education for Citizenship in official education, and the need to go through a a more dedicated path in order to achieve due success in its implementation, and suggested some ideas on possible methodologies so that this process can be successful more or less soon. Furthermore, we advance, throughout the text, some ideas and recommendations that seem to us to be able to contribute to the promotion of citizenship and the consequent formation of individuals with the maturity capable of idealizing conceptions of good that generate social harmony.
