Abordagem teórica sobre a crise migratória e de refugiados - desvendando a variação no processo de (des)integração da União Europeia

Abstract

A presente investigação concretiza um estudo sobre as consequências geradas no seio da União Europeia, na sequência da crise migratória e de refugiados. Na primeira parte, efetua-se uma introdução ao tema onde se estabelecem as linhas da conjuntura que motivaram o presente estudo, apresentando-se o domínio do Espaço de Liberdade, Segurança e Justiça da União Europeia, e uma súmula dos principais acontecimentos que traduzem a forma como a União tem respondido aos fluxos de migrantes e refugiados. A segunda parte da investigação expõe uma síntese das principais premissas teórico conceptuais que servem de suporte à compreensão das RI e em particular do processo da integração europeia. Através desta abordagem teórica, identificam-se e categorizam-se os elementos que permitem medir a variação do processo de integração europeu. Efetuado o levantamento conceptual, realiza-se uma análise com o objetivo de apurar o impacto da crise migratória e de refugiados no processo de integração. Conclui-se a inexistência de uma variação por influência direta da crise migratória e de refugiados, constatando-se, no entanto, evidentes pressões positivas e negativas que expõem várias debilidades da condição da União Europeia; Abstract: Theoretical approach on the migration and refugee crisis – unveiling the variation in European Union (dis)integration process This research is a study of the consequences generated within the European Union as a result of the migration and refugee crisis. The first part provides an introduction to the subject, setting out the background to this study, presenting the area of the European Union’s Area of Freedom, Security and Justice, and summarising the main events that reflect the way in which the Union has responded to the flow of migrants and refugees. The second part of the research summarises the main theoretical and conceptual premises that support an understanding of IR and, in particular, the European Integration process. Through this theoretical approach, the elements that make it possible to measure the variation in the European integration process are identified and categorised. Once the conceptual survey has been completed, an analysis is carried out with the aim of determining the impact of the migration and refugee crisis on the integration process. The conclusion is that there is no variation due to the direct influence of the migratory and refugee crisis, but that there are clear positive and negative pressures that expose various weaknesses in the condition of the European Union.
