Mediação em contexto escolar - Implementação do Gabinete do Provedor do Aluno numa escola de 3.o ciclo e secundária de Évora

Abstract

Esta investigação teve como objetivo geral aferir, junto dos alunos de uma escola de 3.º ciclo e secundária de Évora, a necessidade de implementação de um projeto de mediação - Gabinete do Provedor do Aluno, uma estrutura de apoio e consulta à Direção da escola, que aprecie e resolva assuntos relativos a conflitos, reclamações, queixas ou sugestões dos alunos. A abordagem ao tema da dissertação fez-se, em primeiro lugar, a partir da revisão de literatura, através de diferentes textos e artigos de autores, que sustentam os conceitos trabalhados e da legislação que suporta o tema mediação em contexto escolar. No estudo empírico, recorreu-se a uma metodologia de investigação quantitativa e a um estudo de caso de carácter exploratório. Como instrumento de recolha de dados optou-se pelo inquérito por questionário, de forma online, o qual foi aplicado a 135 alunos que frequentam a escola, e pela análise de documentos chave e plataformas de gestão da escola/agrupamento. Tendo em conta os resultados obtidos, verifica-se que existem alguns problemas comportamentais nesta escola e a maioria dos alunos, apesar de ter referido estar satisfeita ou muito satisfeita com o ambiente escolar, considera que a existência de um Gabinete do Provedor do Aluno contribuiria para o melhorar. Nas considerações finais reconhecem-se as vantagens de implementar um Gabinete do Provedor do Aluno. Por um lado, permitiria reunir as condições para procurar soluções adequadas aos interesses legítimos dos alunos e promover um clima relacional assente no desenvolvimento de valores e princípios e de ações essenciais ao desenvolvimento social da escola. Por outro lado, mas não menos importante, ao promover a participação responsável e consciente dos alunos na vida escolar, iria contribuir para o seu sucesso educativo; - ABSTRACT: Mediation in School Context - Implementation of the Student Ombudsman Office in a Middle and High School in Évora. The general aim of this research was to assess the need to implement a mediation project - the Student Ombudsman's Office - among the students of a Middle and High school in Évora, a support and consultation structure for the school management, which assesses and resolves issues relating to conflicts, complaints, grievances or suggestions made by students. The dissertation was first approached by reviewing the literature, through different texts and articles by authors that support the concepts discussed and the legislation that supports the theme of mediation in the school context. The empirical study used a quantitative research methodology and an exploratory case study. The data collection instrument used was an online questionnaire, which was administered to 135 students attending the school, and the analysis of key documents and school/group management platforms. Taking into account the results obtained, it can be seen that there are some behavioural problems in this school and the majority of students, despite having reported being satisfied or very satisfied with the school environment, consider that the existence of a Student Ombudsman's Office would contribute to improving it. The final considerations recognise the advantages of implementing a Student Ombudsman's Office. On the one hand, it would make it possible to find the right solutions for students' legitimate interests and promote a relational climate based on the development of values and principles and actions that are essential to the social development of the school. On the other hand, but no less importantly, by promoting students' responsible and conscious participation in school life, it would contribute to their educational success.
