Processos de apropriação de dispositivos móveis inteligentes por pessoas invisuais e de baixa visão. Um estudo exploratório em São Tomé e Príncipe

Abstract

O estudo incide sobre os processos de adopção e apropriação de uma tecnologia assistiva por parte de indivíduos com diversos graus de limitações visuais (amblíopes1 e invisuais) a quem é proporcionada a possibilidade de adotar um dispositivo de telecomunicações móveis telemóvel inteligente digital - e a oportunidade do uso de software de leitura de ecrã por via aúdio - voice-over" em alguns sistemas operativos. E teve como objectivo recolher e tratar informações que permita identificar mecanismos para a introdução dos mesmos dispositivos a este grupo alvo. Para concretização deste objectivo, procedemos a revisão da literatura, entrevistamos; recolhemos os dados e informações sobre o uso desta tecnologia, procedemos visita a uma sala integrada numa escola de ensino básico existente para alunos com cegueira e baixa visão. Os resultados destas recolhas de informações permitiram constatar que existe uma ausência na utilização destas tecnologias para esse grupo inseridos no sistema escolar e não só, como também no grupo da população cega e em geral. Concluímos ainda que o país tem um enorme desafio pela frente no que concerne a disponibilização do uso desta tecnologia pela população cega e amblíope, sobretudo porque vem perspetivando uma filosofia de inclusão em geral para uma efectiva garantia da sua inserção na vida activa e produtiva. Com análise dos dados permitiram-nos apresentar algumas recomendações de melhoria neste domínio para esta população. Este trabalho está organizado em cinco capítulos, sendo o capítulo I o da introdução, o capítulo II dedicado a enquadramento teórico, capítulo III recai na metodologia de análise e tratamento de dados, já o capítulo IV foi dedicado a análises e interpretações dos resultados e por ultimo no capítulo V apresentam-se as conclusões, limitações e recomendações. Os resultados revelam a importância dos dispositivos móveis na vida das pessoas com deficiências visual, garantindo-lhes uma maior autonomia. An exploratory study in São Tomé and Príncipe - ABSTRACT: The study focuses on the processes of adoption and appropriation of an assistive technology by individuals with different degrees of visual limitations (blind and visually impaired) who are offered the possibility of adopting a mobile telecommunications device - digital smart phone - and the opportunity the use of screen reading software via audio - "voice-over" - in some operating systems. And it aimed to collect and process information that allows identifying mechanisms for the introduction of the same devices to this target group. To achieve this objective, we reviewed the literature, interviewed; we collected data and information about the use of this technology, we visited a room integrated in an existing elementary school for students with blindness and low vision. The results of these collections of information made it possible to verify that there is an absence in the use of these technologies for this group inserted in the school system and not only, but also in the group of the blind population and in general. We also conclude that the country has a huge challenge ahead regarding the availability of the use of this technology by the blind and partially sighted population, mainly because it has been envisioning a philosophy of inclusion in general for an effective guarantee of their insertion in active and productive life. With data analysis, we were able to present some recommendations for improvement in this area for this population. This work is organized into five chapters, with chapter I being the introduction, chapter II dedicated to the theoretical framework, chapter III dealing with the methodology of analysis and data processing, while chapter IV was dedicated to analysis and interpretation of the results and by Finally, in chapter V, the conclusions, limitations and recommendations are presented. The results reveal the importance of mobile devices in the lives of people with visual impairments, guaranteeing them greater autonomy.
