Perceção da sexualidade da pessoa com perturbação do desenvolvimento intelectual. Um estudo preliminar com mães e técnicos

Abstract

O presente estudo tem por objetivo identificar a perceção da sexualidade da pessoa com Perturbação do Desenvolvimento Intelectual (PDI) a partir do olhar de mães e dos técnicos com a finalidade de obter maior compreensão sobre o fenómeno para no futuro desenvolver estratégias de intervenção eficazes para esta população. Participaram do estudo mães de pessoas com PDI e técnicos que trabalham diretamente com esse público. Os resultados apontam para uma perceção de que as pessoas com PDI desenvolvem sua sexualidade biologicamente como as pessoas sem PDI e a perceção das transformações físicas e biológicas é vivida com mais naturalidade pelos técnicos do que pelas mães. Os relacionamentos são vividos maioritariamente na dimensão afetiva da sexualidade. A informação sobre a sexualidade é transmitida de forma informal pelas mães, através de conversas ou utilizando recursos audiovisuais. Os técnicos revelam realizar ações de formação para abordar o tema. Os resultados revelam que há falta de formação específica tanto por parte das mães quanto dos técnicos para lidar com a sexualidade da pessoa com PDI e as atividades de educação sexual deverão contemplar questões do diagnóstico para fornecer uma intervenção efetiva; Perception of the experience of sexuality of the person with disturbance of intellectual development.
