“Use of the arterial line in hemodynamic monitoring the critically ill patient”
The admission of unstable patients, in failure or with severe organic limitations, in intensive care units requires constant and continuous surveillance and monitoring of their hemodynamic parameters, implying the use of implantable intravascular devices, being the arterial line one of the most used methods in the surveillance of the hemodynamic status of patients, implying in-depth and well-founded knowledge of the procedures to be carried out in the placement, maintenance or removal of this device.
Therefore, an intervention project was developed that focuses on standardize care practice regarding the use of the arterial line in hemodynamic monitoring of critically ill patients in an intensive care unit, through the development and dissemination of an institutional standard procedure, which is expected to serve as future guidance for professionals working in that hospital unit, describing in detail all the stages of this project in this report.
At the same time, given that the mobilization of knowledge is essential for the provision of specialized care, it is also intended to demonstrate the acquisition of common and specific skills of the Specialist Nurse in Medical-Surgical Nursing, the Person in Critical Situation, and the skills of the Master in Nursing, through the description and detailed analysis of the academic pathway. |
