Caracterização das associações desportivas na cidade de Évora face à pandemia COVID - 19

Abstract

As associações desportivas, apesar de se encontrarem na base do sistema desportivo, possuem grande relevância pelo seu papel na promoção de prática desportiva à população, sendo de louvar aqueles que, de forma desinteressada e recorrendo do seu tempo livre, dedicam-se em prol da associação que representam. Vivendo um período atribulado e incerto, causado pelo surgimento da COVID-19, as associações desportivas enfrentam dificuldades inesperadas, provocadas pela pandemia COVID-19. Deste modo, tendo como base as associações desportivas de Évora, este estudo enquadra-se na compreensão das mesmas e nas implicações que a COVID-19 poderá ter para o desenvolvimento das associações, tendo em conta que estas constituem um elemento importante para o desenvolvimento do sistema desportivo, mas também para o desenvolvimento socioeconómico local. Na realização do estudo recorreu-se a informação disponibilizada pela Câmara Municipal de Évora, à aplicação de questionários aos elementos responsáveis das associações desportivas locais e ao enquadramento legislativo e teórico com base em temas com relevância para o estudo. Os resultados obtidos revelam um associativismo desportivo caracterizado por associações desportivas amadoras, com dificuldades de subsistência e autossuficiência. Verifica-se uma escassez de instalações e equipamentos próprios das associações desportivas, existência de apoios públicos e privados que não permitem satisfazer as necessidades das associações desportivas existentes e que a COVID-19 teve o seu impacto predominante durante o ano de 2020, identificando-se como principais dificuldades perante a COVID-19, a manutenção de sócios e praticantes e a capacidade de gerar receita, que por sua vez resultam em constrangimentos financeiros e escassez de praticantes; Characterization of sports associations in the city of Évora in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic Abstract: The sports associations, despite being at the base of the sports system, have great relevance for their role in promoting sports practice to the population, with praise to those who, in a selfless way and using their free time, dedicate themselves in favor of the association they represent. Living in a troubled and uncertain period, caused by the emergence of COVID-19, sports associations face unexpected difficulties, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In this way, having as a base the sport associations of Évora, this study is framed in the understanding of them and the implications that COVID-19 may have for the development of associations, considering that they are an important element for the development of the sports system, but also for the local socio-economic development. The study was carried out using the information provided by the Municipality of Évora, the application of questionnaires to the responsible elements of the local sports associations and the legislative and theoretical framework based on themes with relevance to the study. The results obtained reveal a sporting associativism characterized by amateur sports associations, with difficulties of subsistence and self-sufficiency. It is verified that there is a shortage of facilities and equipment for sports associations, the existence of public and private support that does not allow the needs of existing sports associations to be met and that COVID-19 had its predominant impact during the year 2020, identifying as the main difficulties facing COVID-19, the maintenance of members and practitioners and the ability to generate revenue, which in turn result in financial constraints and shortage of practitioners.
