Dramaturgy of silence: The case of Krapp
This master's project is based on three assumptions related to dramaturgical discussion and expression and the consequent construction of a theatrical show from Krapp's Last Tape and under the aesthetics of silence advocated by Samuel Beckett. In this way, the concept of literality and its understanding as a reducer or expander of scenic polysignification are studied. An analysis is also made of Beckett's "dialogue" with the search for new fields of dramaturgical action that prove to be derogators of conventions, opening paths for a postdramatic reading. The theoretical approach is concluded with a reflection on Beckett's silent criticism of the process of fixation and perpetuation of History. In the end, the reflection on the aesthetic design and final assembly of the piece EU! KRAPP… will demonstrate the ways of valuing and integrating the public as a participant in the process of building meanings and identifying it as a member/owner of the loneliness approached on stage. There follows an in-depth reflection of all the dramaturgical and scenic components used for the construction of the play, with a special focus on the word as a scenic prop punctuated by silence. |
