Abstract: | In 2015, IICT - Instituto de Investigação CIentífica Tropical (Tropical Research Institute) (1883) was
integrated in the University of Lisbon. Its scientific heritage includes several scientific collections
resulting from multiple organized missions to the former Portuguese colonies, especially since 1936,
when the Junta das MIssões Geográficas e de Investigações Coloniais (Board for Geographic Missions
and Colonial Research) was created. Among these collections are the archaeological ones whose
collecting contexts, custodial history, valuation actions, and future perspectives are reviewed, in a
very synthetic way, in the following pages. |
