A capa negra do amor: a importância do género na percepção da violência sexual nas relações amorosas entre estudantes universitários

Abstract

O Ser humano é uma espécie sociável e, com isso, consegue estabelecer ligações de afeto com terceiros assumindo um papel amável e cordial, mas também um papel violento enquanto mecanismo de resposta à dinâmica relacional em que está inserido (Oliveira & Sani, 2005). Com a presente dissertação, pretendeu-se estudar a prevalência de comportamentos sexuais violentos nas relações amorosas entre jovens universitários, assim como a identificação desses mesmos comportamentos na prática e na vitimização. Pretendeu-se ainda explorar o impacto do género nas atitudes, nas crenças e na ocorrência desses atos. A amostra foi constituída por 123 estudantes universitários da Universidade de Évora, sendo que 73 são eram do sexo feminino (59.3%). Os resultados concluíram que 36,6% dos participantes afirmaram que são ou já foram vítimas de violência na relação e 47,2% confirmaram ter conhecimento de relações violentas, no seu círculo de amigos. Conclui-se, também, que as estratégias coercivas mais utilizadas e mais sofridas são as estratégias de gravidade ligeira, como a insistência para ter relações sexuais ou o sexo sem preservativo. No que diz respeito às estratégias de grau severo mais sofridas, as ameaças de gravidade ligeiro apresentaram uma maior prevalência. Por fim, os resultados sugeriram que existe um impacto significativo do género nas variáveis estudadas e, embora menos significativo, também um impacto da experiência de abuso na infância e a experiência de relacionamentos violentos nessas mesmas variáveis; The Black Cover of Love: The importance of gender in the perception of sexual violence in romantic relationships among college students Abstract: The Human Being is a sociable species and, with this, it manages to establish affection bonds with third parties, assuming a friendly and cordial role, but also a violent role as a response mechanism to the relational dynamics in which it is inserted (Oliveira & Sani, 2005). With this dissertation, it was intended to study the prevalence of violent sexual behaviors in love relationships among university students, as well as the identification of these same behaviors in practice and in victimization. It was also intended to explore the impact of gender on attitudes, beliefs and the occurrence of these acts. The sample consisted of 123 university students from the University of Évora, 73 of whom were female (59.3%). The results concluded that 36.6% of the participants stated that they are or have been victims of violence in the relationship and 47.2% confirmed having knowledge of violent relationships in their circle of friends. It is concluded, also, that the most used and most suffered coercive strategies are strategies of mild severity, such as the insistence to have sex or sex without a condom. With regard to the most severely severe strategies, threats of mild severity had a higher prevalence. Finally, the results suggested that there is a significant gender impact on the variables studied and, although less significant, also an impact on the experience of childhood abuse and the experience of violent relationships on those same variables.
