A promoção da cidadania no ensino básico: um estudo com os professores de 4ª classe

Abstract

O conhecimento, por si só, não garante que o homem se sinta integrado no seio dos demais. Pois, o conhecimento profissional é apenas uma parte do homem, ou seja, é a parte que o potencializa como profissional no contexto do mercado de trabalho. Por esse facto, importa estudarmos a verdadeira integração do homem na sociedade. Deste modo investigamos a Promoção da Cidadania no Ensino Básico: Um estudo com professores de 4.ª classe para cumprir-se o objectivo geral de produzir conhecimento que possibilite a assumpção de medidas que possam concorrer para que se instaurem os valores sócio-culturais que promovam a edificação da cidadania são-tomense. Foi o nosso objectivo específico listar os constrangimentos que concorreram para o défice de educação para a cidadania no Ensino Básico em São Tomé e Príncipe. Para a recolha de dados foi usado o método qualitativo e quantitativo com recurso a inquéritos aos professores e alunos de 4.ª classe das Escolas Básicas de Dona Maria de Jesus, de Atanásio Gomes, de San Fenícia, de Caixão Grande, de Santo Amaro e de Boa Morte. Este estudo avaliou até que ponto os professores de 4.ª classe concorrem para a promoção da cidadania em São Tomé e Príncipe. Concluímos que, ao longo das pesquisas feitas no âmbito do ensino e da promoção da cidadania, a educação para cidadania deve, antes de tudo, incorpora-se no currículo do Ensino Básico para que seja materializada numa disciplina específica ou incorporada noutra disciplina. Neste sentido a escola básica são-tomense não prossegue objectivos que reforçam o sentimento de pertença, ou seja, os alunos terminam a 4.ª classe sem saber que o património sócio-cultural da sua comunidade é um bem público que todos devem preservar. Desta forma os alunos não estão aprendendo para a cidadania; ABSTRACT: TITLE: The Promotion of Citizenship in Basic Education: A study with Teachers of 4th Class Knowledge, by itself, does not guarantee that man feels integrated in the bosom of others. The professional knowledge is only part of man, meaning that, it is the part that empowers him as a professional in the context of the labor market. For this reason, we must study the true integration of man in society. In this way we investigate the Promotion of Citizenship in Basic Education: A study with teachers of 4th grade to fulfill the general objective of making suggestions to the entity of national education in order to implement new policy of socio-cultural values that promote the empowerment of the citizenship of Sao Tome and Principe. It is our main objective to list the constraints that contributed to the deficit of education for citizenship in Basic Education in São Tomé and Príncipe. For data collection, we used the qualitative and quantitative method with the use of surveys for teachers and students of the 4th grade of the basic schools of Dona Maria de Jesus, Atanásio Gomes, San Fenícia, Caixão Grande, Santo Amaro and Boa Morte. This study evaluated how the 4th grade teachers promote the citizenship in São Tomé and Príncipe. We conclude that, throughout the research conducted in the context of teaching and promoting citizenship, education for citizenship, first of all, must be incorporate into the curriculum of basic education, in fact it can be implimented as a specific subject or incorporated in another subject. In this sense, the São Toméan basic school does not pursue objectives that reinforce the sense of belonging, meaning that, the students finish fourth grade without knowing that the socio-cultural patrimony of their community, it is a public good that we all must preserve.
