glutationo peroxidase, glutationo redutase, glucose-6-fosfato desidrogenase e catalase
apoptose; Response to atrazine by S. cerevisiae UE-ME3 and S. cerevisiae W303
Abstract:
The atrazine herbicide is considered a persistent organic pollutant due his meager
chemical and biological degradation, concentrating along the human food chain.
Although their agricultural application is prohibited in many countries, remains an
environmental health problem due to the food circulation. Thus, we sought to evaluate
the effects of atrazine (50 mM) on cell growth and antioxidant response of
Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The results confirmed the xenobiotic toxicity to the native
strain UE-ME3, diminishing its growth and cell survival until 200 min of exposure. The
response profile to triazine and 50 mM acetic acid, in terms of content in glutathione
and reactive oxygen species or enzyme activities superoxide dismutase, ascorbate
peroxidase, glutathione peroxidase, glutathione reductase, glucose-6-phosphate
dehydrogenase and peroxisomal catalase was similar in the wild-type strain, though
partly overlapping with the detected in the W303 cells where acetic acid has been
described as an inducer of apoptosis. |
