Construção de caminhos para uma vida autónoma: o caso dos sem-abrigo no Alentejo

Abstract

Vivemos tempos de mudança ao nível económico, familiar, organizacional e que, consequentemente se refletem no social e na sociedade. Na era do economicismo e do desenvolvimento assoberbado das sociedades modernas, a pobreza e consequente exclusão social, as políticas sociais e as respostas a elas associadas são conceitos e temáticas recorrentes no debate do dia-a-dia pela dimensão global e preocupante que tomaram. O sistema social é um complexo de indivíduos, grupos sociais e instituições articuladas, onde os desafios que se colocam são diferentes tornando-se necessário estudar novas respostas e estratégias de intervenção para dar aos que mais necessitam autonomia e potenciar a sua inserção em sociedade. Este trabalho tenta analisar o que se passa numa das regiões do nosso País, centrando-se na região do Alentejo e nas respostas para sem-abrigo (Centros de Alojamento Temporários e Comunidades de Inserção) de forma a fazer um diagnóstico sócio-organizacional destas Instituições, do seu funcionamento, dos seus constrangimentos e potencialidades bem como das estratégias de autonomização adotadas para inserirem os seus utentes na sociedade. Tendo em conta os tempos difíceis que vivemos em termos económicos, políticos e sociais, e decorrente do conhecimento da realidade em estudo na região Alentejo, propomo-nos ainda elencar propostas de estratégias de intervenção que potenciem a inserção social destes indivíduos; Abstract: Building pathways to an autonomous life – the case of homeless people in Alentejo We are living times of changes on Economical, Family and Organizational level that have consequences in the way of living in our society. In the age of economics and of overwhelming development of modern societies, Poverty and Social exclusion, the Social policies and their answers are concepts and themes that often appear in our daily debates because of their global and concerning dimension. The Social system is a complex amount of individuals, social groups and institutions, where the challenges are of different types and it is urgent that we study and look for new answers, new strategies to give more autonomy and independency to those who need it most and therefore promoting their integration in Society. This work tries to analyse what is going on in one of our country regions, and has its focus on the region of Alentejo and in the answers that are given to homeless people (Temporary lodging centres and Integration Communities) so that we can make an organizational social diagnosis of these Institutions, how they work, how they operate, their strengths and their weaknesses as well as the strategies they adopt to insert, to integrate their users in society. Being aware of the difficult times we are living in economical, politics and social terms and due to the knowledge of the reality that is being studied in the region of Alentejo, we also intend to list some proposals of strategies of intervention that can reinforce the social integration of these individuals.
