Abstract

Esta tese incide sobre uma das personagens mais interessantes da controversa história política da Revolução Francesa, Olympe de Gouges. Tendo como cenário a Revolução Francesa importa relevar o quão marcante foi o seu trajecto pessoal, numa época em que às mulheres estava destinado uma existência de esquecimento. Ancorada na ideia de que, os estudos das movimentações femininas podem ser considerados cidadania científica e ter influência directa na produção geral do saber, contribuindo para a construção de um futuro mais justo e mais igual, esta tese pretende assim: mostrar o retrato de uma época que influenciou o mundo Ocidental, com toda a sua dimensão humana; dar a conhecer uma mulher que ousou romper com a sociedade patriarcal e com estruturas sociais hierárquicas sacralizadas da sua época; perceber como sentimos hoje, em pleno século XXI, sob o manto de uma cidadania Global, as influências dessa época tão promissora para a Humanidade. /ABSTRACT; The current thesis is about one of the most interesting and controversial characters in the political history of the French Revolution, Olympe de Gouges. Having the French Revolution as the background it is important to emphasize how outstanding her personal journey was at a time when women were destined to an existence of oblivion. Anchored to the idea that the study of the feminist movements can be considered to be scientific citizenship and have a direct influence on the general production of knowledge, contributing to the construction of a fairer and more equal future, this thesis aims to: portray an era that influenced the Western World, with all its human dimension; herald a woman who defied the patriarchal society and the consecrated social hierarchy structures of her time; understand how today, in the 21st Century, under the mantle of Global citizenship, we feel the repercussions and influences of that era which held so much promise for Humanity.
