Ecodesign nas grande cidades: uma nova realidade sustentável?

Abstract

A consciencialização da população sobre a atual situação urbana, de que o espaço urbano densamente construído e artificializado, poderá imputar graves problemas na cidade e nos seus habitantes, permitiu uma nova abordagem ao edificado, tornando-o parte integrante de uma estrutura verde através da introdução de soluções inseridas no conceito de Ecodesign, como as coberturas ajardinadas. Este é precisamente o contexto em que o estudo se concentra. A presente dissertação resulta assim, de uma pesquisa e análise dos processos construtivos e de tipologias de coberturas ajardinadas, procurando-se desta forma conhecer as implicações, benefícios e limitações da utilização deste tipo de soluções. De forma mais aprofundada, é pretendido com esta dissertação identificar alguns dos riscos e oportunidades da utilização deste tipo de soluções, de forma a analisar minuciosamente quais as sua vantagens e/ou desvantagens, qual a sua fiabilidade, e até mesmo qual o seu contributo real nas cidades, expondo dois casos de estudo totalmente apostos, pela realidade em que estão inseridas; ABSTRACT: Ecodesign in big cities: A new sustainable reality? Public awareness regarding the current urban situation, characterized by densely constructed and artificial urban spaces which might bring serious problems to the city and its inhabitants, has enabled a novel approach in terms of urban design. Within such an approach, the urban design becomes part of a so-called green structure by introducing Ecodesign-based solutions such as garden roofs and green walls. This context is emphasized throughout the presented study. This dissertation derives from research and analysis frameworks focusing on construction processes and on different typologies of garden roofs and green walls, with the purpose of finding out the implications, benefits and limitations of employing the abovementioned solutions. The main objective of this dissertation is to identify some of the risks and opportunities which derive from the use of such solutions, in order to thoroughly classify their advantages and/or disadvantages, their reliability, and even their real contributions to current cities. The presented work presents two case studies which originate from different realities.
