Peritonites em animais de companhia

Abstract

O estágio curricular em clínica de animais de companhia que originou este relatório de estágio teve lugar no INEMVET HV e no HVRC-USC durante um período total de 4 meses, sob a co-orientação do Dr. Mário Mansinho e Dr. Germán Santamarina Pernas respectivamente. A primeira parte deste relatório reflecte a casuística resultante das actividades desenvolvidas no período supracitado, encontrando-se dividida nas áreas clínicas de medicina preventiva, de patologia médica e de patologia cirúrgica e exames complementares de diagnóstico. Na sequência das mesmas actividades médico-veterinárias, foi realizada uma revisão bibliográfica subordinada ao tema - peritonites em animais de companhia - correspondente à segunda parte deste relatório. A forma séptica bacteriana de peritonite é a forma mais comum de peritonite em canídeos, sendo que complicações como sépsis, SIRS e MODS são frequentes. A PIF exsudativa, por outro lado, é a etiologia mais frequente de peritonites em felinos. O culminar desta revisão bibliográfica tem lugar na terceira parte deste relatório, onde são apresentados e discutidos dois casos clínicos em felinos; ABSTRACT: This graduation thesis was developed at HVRC-USC and INEMVET HV, for a total period of 4 months under the supervision of Dr. Germán Santamarina Pernas and Dr. Mário Mansinho respectively. The first part of this report reflects the resulting statistics of the activities performed during the specified period, and it is divided in the following subjects: preventive medicine, medical pathology, surgical pathology and diagnostic complementary tests. Following this veterinary medical activities, it was made a literature review about the theme - peritonitis in small animals - corresponding to the second part of this report. Bacterial septic peritonitis is the most common type of peritonitis in dogs, and complications such as sepsis, SIRS and MODS are frequent. The exudative type of FIP, on the other hand, is the most common etiology for peritonitis in cats. The culmination of this literature review takes place in the third part of this report, where is presented and discussed two different cases in cats.
