Abstract: Reinforcement of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) by adding multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) allows improvement of mechanical characteristics for biomedical applications. However, there is controversy when it comes to carbon nanotubes toxicity. Our objective was the in vitro study of UHMWPE/MWCNT. The results show good biocompatibility of the nanocomposite, comparable to results obtained by other authors.
