The mooca warehouses at São Paulo: management of industrial heritage in the big Brazilian cities

Abstract

Ce mémoire vise à analyser la législation brésilienne sur la protection du patrimoine et son influence, positive ou négative, sur la gestion du patrimoine dans les grandes villes brésiliennes. Cette étude examine le cas des « Galpões da Mooca », un complexe architectural du patrimoine industriel italien situé à São Paulo. Après une contextualisation générale des événements brésiliens qui ont influencé le sujet, cette étude se concentre sur la législation actuelle et le processus de protection juridique mis en oeuvre depuis la seconde moitié du XXe siècle, bien que cela nécessite une étude des développements historiques principalement à partir du XIXe siècle, période de construction de ces bâtiments; - THE MOOCA WAREHOUSES AT SÃO PAULO: management of industrial heritage in the big Brazilian cities - ABSTRACT: This paper aims to analyze heritage protection legislation in Brazil and its impact, both positive and negative, on heritage management in large Brazilian cities. This study examines the case of the "Galpões da Mooca," an architectural complex of Italian industrial heritage located in the city of São Paulo. After a general contextualization of the Brazilian events that influence the topic, this study focuses on current legislation and the legal protection process implemented since the second half of the 20th century. However, this requires a survey of historical developments primarily from the 19th century, the period in which these buildings were constructed.
