| Abstract: | This study investigated sleep quality (SQ) and dysfunctional beliefs and attitudes about sleep (DBAS) in an ageing Portuguese population ($N=104$, ages 50-80). The research explored the influence of sleep-related attitudes and general health problems on SQ. Key findings revealed that more negative sleep beliefs significantly correlated with poorer SQ. Additionally, more intense health problems were associated with both more negative sleep beliefs and poorer SQ. Although age was correlated with poorer SQ, it was not significantly correlated with negative sleep beliefs. The conclusion emphasizes the need for interventions promoting sleep hygiene and positive beliefs for healthy ageing. |
