Comunicação com os familiares do doente crítico internado na Unidade de Cuidados Intensivos

Abstract

O internamento numa Unidade de Cuidados Intensivos apresenta-se como um evento inesperado que envolve repercussões não só a nível individual, como familiar. Desta forma, é fundamental que o enfermeiro entenda a família da pessoa em situação crítica como alvo dos seus cuidados, procurando compreendê-la no seu todo e identificando as suas necessidades, através do estabelecimento de uma relação terapêutica, com base numa comunicação eficaz. O processo de comunicação apresenta-se assim, como um elemento essencial do cuidado de enfermagem à família, no ambiente intensivo, tanto na sua importância na relação terapêutica estabelecida, como pelo facto de constituir um favorável indicador da qualidade e humanização dos cuidados prestados. Perante esta problemática procuramos compreender o processo de comunicação enfermeiro-família, em contexto de cuidados intensivos, de forma a contribuir para uma melhor intervenção nesse âmbito. O objetivo geral do presente relatório é demonstrar a aquisição de competências de Mestre e Enfermeiro Especialista em Enfermagem Médico-cirúrgica: A Pessoa em Situação Crítica, competências adquiridas ao longo do Mestrado em Enfermagem e dos seus estágios. O projeto de intervenção desenvolvido, permitiu dotar os enfermeiros de capacidades e estratégias para comunicar com a família do doente, através de um instrumento criado e adaptado ao serviço; ABSTRACT: Communication with the Family of the critically ill patient admitted to the Intensive Care Unit The admission in an Intensive Care Unit is an unexpected event which affects not only the patient but also is family. Therefore, is essential to have the patient´s family as a subject of the nursing care, understanding it as a whole and identifying their need´s, throughout the establishment of a therapeutic relationship, based on an effective communication. Thereby, the process of communication represents a main element of the nursing care towards the family in an intensive care environment, not only for its relevance during the therapeutic relationship but also being a favorable indicative of the quality and humanization of the care. Considering this subject, we aim at understanding the nurse-family communication process inserted in critical care, in order to contribute for an improved nursing intervention in that field. The general objective of this report is to demonstrate the acquisition of skills of Master and Specialist Nurse in Medical-Surgical Nursing: The Person in Critical Situation, skills learned throughout the Master’s Degree in Nursing and it’s internship. The intervention project developed, allowed nurses to be equipped with the skills and strategies to communicate with the family’s patient, through an instrument created and adapted to the service.
