Estudo exploratório sobre o potencial do turismo espiritual no Alentejo

Abstract

Atualmente tem-se feito uma reflexão sobre os conceitos de espiritualidade em relação ao tradicional conceito ligado as religiões. A visão moderna de espiritualidade, relacionada ao autoconhecimento e contacto com o eu interno é apontada em diversos artigos. Menciona-se o turismo espiritual como forte potencial de desenvolvimento sustentável e económico das comunidades onde estão inseridos estes destinos, pois esta tipologia turística cresce a cada ano. O objetivo deste estudo é identificar as motivações e o perfil do turista espiritual em Portugal, bem como analisar algumas ofertas do turismo espiritual no Alentejo e potencial desta região para desenvolvimento do produto. Este estudo foca-se nas práticas espirituais não religiosas, onde a motivação para viajar seja a autorrealização, contacto com o âmbito mais profundo do seu ser, busca de resinificações para a vida, bem-estar interior, dentre outras enunciadas na literatura de referência desta pesquisa. A partir da revisão de literatura optou-se por uma metodologia qualitativa para contemplar os objetivos desta dissertação. Fizeram-se 9 entrevistas a turistas referente a fase anterior a viagem e 8 entrevistas aos turistas, que participaram na primeira fase, referente a parte posterior a viagem. Além disto fizeram-se entrevista a 2 agentes da oferta deste tipo de atividades, bem como se conduziu uma análise exploratória a alguns websites de ofertas existentes. A partir dos dados coletados desta investigação percebe-se a região do Alentejo com potencial para atrair ainda mais este turista, uma vez que esta região tem as características mencionadas como motivação do turista espiritual: património material e imaterial preservado, ambiente natural genuíno e preservado, com a predominância de um estilo de vida mais desacelerado. Pretende-se com este trabalho aumentar os estudos sobre o tema e auxiliar no desenvolvimento deste tipo de turismo no Alentejo; Title: Exploratory Study on the Potential of Spiritual Tourism in Alentejo Abstract: Currently, a reflection has been made on the concepts of spirituality in relation to the traditional concept linked to religions. The modern view of spirituality, related to self-knowledge and contact with the inner self, is pointed out in several articles. Spiritual tourism is mentioned as a strong potential for sustainable and economic development of the communities where these destinations are located, as this type of tourism grows every year. The objective of this study is to identify the motivations and profile of the spiritual tourist in Portugal, as well as to analyze some offers of spiritual tourism in Alentejo and the potential of this region for product development. This study is focused on non-religious spiritual practices, where the motivation to travel is self-realization, contact with the deepest scope of your being, search for new meanings for life, inner well-being, among other statements in the reference literature. of this research. From the literature review, a qualitative methodology was chosen to contemplate the objectives of this dissertation. There were 9 interviews with tourists referring to the previous phase of the trip and 8 interviews with tourists who participated in the first phase, referring to the later part of the trip. In addition, 2 interviews were conducted with tourists and X with agents offering this type of activity, as well as an exploratory analysis of some existing sites offering offers. From the data collected in this investigation, the Alentejo region has the potential to attract even more this tourist. This region has the characteristics mentioned as a motivation for the spiritual tourist: tangible and intangible heritage preserved, genuine and preserved natural environment, with a predominance of a slower lifestyle. The aim of this work is to increase studies on the subject and help in the development of this type of tourism in the Alentejo. From the data collected in this investigation, the Alentejo region has great potential to attract even more tourists.
