Observaram-se também diferenças no grupo etário mais velho (+80); Living COVID-19 in Older Adults: Risk Perception, Coping Strategies and Impact on Stress and Life Satisfaction
Abstract:
COVID-19 is a virus that attacks the human respiratory system, with age and the existence of associated diseases being the main risk factors (Rothan & Byrareddy, 2020). The pandemic will have repercussions on stress and life satisfaction, depending on how the elderly perceive this new health’ risk, and what coping strategies they use to deal with the situation. The main aim of this investigation is to observe the relationship between risk perception, future time perspective and perceived health, on stress and life satisfaction, mediated by coping mechanisms. We surveyed 260 participants, over 60 years old, using a closed-ended questionnaire. The results showed that the direct relationships of the causal model worked better than the indirect ones. There’s also differences in the oldest group (+80). |
