Silo da EPAC de Évora - património industrial como veículo de som

Abstract

O trabalho de dissertação surgiu do exercício de Projeto Avançado III e IV realizado no ano letivo 2014/2015, no qual o silo da EPAC de Évora foi objeto de estudo e temas como a obsolescência no Património Industrial e suas possibilidades de reconversão foram explorados, servindo de premissa a esta investigação. Neste contexto, pretendeu contribuir-se para um melhor entendimento deste Património na cidade, através de um estudo aprofundado da evolução dos costumes e processos de armazenagem do cereal, das arquiteturas que suportaram esta prática, assim como a identificação dos fatores que se repercutiram nas constantes alterações das suas arquiteturas e fixação no território. Na pesquisa procuraram estudar-se também as circunstâncias que levaram ao surgimento, evolução e difusão desta tipologia de silo no mundo, bem como analisar as diferentes estratégias de reconversão possíveis para a mesma. Após esta análise local e global ensaiou-se uma hipótese de reconversão no silo da EPAC de Évora que tivesse em consideração as necessidades da cidade, do lugar e do edifício, conseguindo adaptá-lo a uma nova função sem prejuízo ou perda da sua identidade; Abstract: This dissertation was produced following the carrying out of Projeto Avançado III e IV - Advanced Project III and IV - during academic year 2014/2015, involving the study of EPAC Évora grain silo. The aim of the research conducted was to analyse a case study of obsolescence in the field of Industrial Heritage and explore the potential for converting a listed building for a new use. Another aim was to provide a contribution towards providing a better understanding of the role of the building in the city of Évora based on an in-depth study of the development of the practices and processes of grain storage, the architectures that supported the business, and the identification of factors affecting the constant changes in architectural configuration and the continued presence of the grain storage business in the local region. In this study we also sought to examine the circumstances that led to the emergence, development and spread of the use of this type of silo across the world, and analyse a range of potential conversion strategies for grain storage facilities. Following analysis at the local and global level, a hypothesis was tested for the conversion of the EPAC Évora grain silo for a new use, while considering the needs of the city, the facility and the building itself and preserving its identity.
