Abstract: Although there are several interpretations of rhetorical genres, the contemporary rhetorical production has shown the essentiality of the pragmatic dimension of the deliberative genre in new realities of political speech. The parliamentary debate, a variant of this political discourse, lives out of the power of persuasion, from an interaction verbal dimension controlled by formal and protocol constraints. This study is based on samples of parliamentary debates occurred in Portugal (1996-1998 and 2005-2007) and published, after a previous linguistic review, in the Official Gazette (Diário da Assembleia da República). As the correction is an evidence of the information filtering, we present here a comparative study between what was really said in the plenary sessions of the Assembly of the Portuguese Republic and what was transcribed to be published. The analysis focuses on syntactic key concepts of any language, such as function, relation, agreement, seeking to contribute towards the understanding of syntactic particularity of oral speech.
