O Porto do início do séc. XX vivia no esplendor musical do pós-romantismo
interpretação da obra musical de Pedro Blanco; Abstract: Pedro Blanco – His life and his piano works
In a period of time, where nationalist aesthetic currents defined European musical
culture, the major part of the musical legacy of Pedro Blanco, as his Suites, the
orchestral pieces, or the voice and piano pieces, were strongly influenced by the
aesthetic movement known as Spanish Nationalism, initiated by Felipe Pedrell
(Blanco’s composition teacher).
At the beginning of the 20th century, Porto was living in the musical splendor of
wagnerian post-romanticism. Pedro Blanco’s work features Mazurkas, Valsas and the
Concerto op. 15 for piano and orchestra, which are related to this darker, gloomier and
more melancholic side, typical from this post-romantic aesthetical movement.
The aim of this work is to underline these two main ideas, to establish a correlation
between them and at the same time to give the performer essential tips for a better
knowledge and interpretation of Pedro Blanco’s musical work. NOTA: Contém anexos indisponiveis online. Consulta presencial |
