Equipamento cultural no Lugar do Grilo: a cidade: uma forma de tempo volátil

Abstract

A presente dissertação tem, como principal objectivo, o estudo da variável tempo no espaço arquitectónico. O estudo centra-se na criação de um equipamento cultural na cidade de Lisboa, onde alguns mecanismos arquitectónicos (luz, percurso e matéria) se revelam centrais na resolução prática da regeneração do ugar. Tanto a compreensão morfológica da cidade de Lisboa, como a compreensão da evolução da ocupação da cidade foram cruciais na identificação da problemática e na respectiva solução apresentada. O afastamento progressivo entre a cidade e o rio, devido à sobreposição de infra-estruturas da cidade, tais como os aterros construído para o surgimento do Porto, da linha ferroviária ou das grandes avenidas ribeirinhas vieram alterar e trazer ao lugar novas formas temporais, que se sobrepõem ao antigo passeio real. Esta metamorfose constante do espaço da cidade conduzem à actual problemática a que me proponho resolver, de um lugar obsoleto, sem função, com grandes debilidades no planeamento do espaço público. As opções projectuais visam apresentar uma solução exequível na regeneração do lugar, através duma alternativa que propõe uma nova linha temporal no espaço, congregando as divergentes formas de tempo impostas ao lugar. A solução sugere a criação de um atravessamento público transversal cidade-rio, permitindo uma aproximação das cotas altas à zona ribeirinha, que actualmente se cinge às linhas de vales, salvo raras excepções. Em suma, pretende-se a inclusão de uma nova forma temporal, através de um programa cultural, regeneradora de um troço da cidade, não só respondendo às necessidades específicas do lugar (morfológicas e históricas), como também a uma dimensão sócio-cultural contemporânea, através da interacção entre as intervenções artísticas e os utentes do novo espaço público. O envolvimento arquitectónico do percurso público, o controlo da luz natural nos espaços públicos e expositivos, bem como a mutabilidade da matéria, assumem-se como temas teóricos centrais na fundamentação prática projectual. ABSTRACT: This thesis has as its main objective to study the variable of time in architectural space. The study focuses on the creation of cultural equipment in the city of Lisbon, where some architectural mechanisms (light, route and matter) reveal to be central in the practical regeneration of that place. Lisbon's morphological comprehension, as well as the understanding of the evolution of the occupation of the city, was crucial in the identification of the problematic and of the respective solution presented. The progressive detachment between the city and the river, due to the overlap of the city's infrastructures, such as the land fields built for the emergence of the port, the railway line or the large riverside avenues, have amended and brought to this place new temporal forms, which overlay the former royal footpath. This constant metamorphosis of the city's space drive to the actual problematic that I propose to solve, of an obsolete space, functionless, with large weaknesses in terms of publics pace planning. The projective options aim to present a workable solution for the regeneration of the place, through an alternative that proposes a new timeline in space, bringing together the different forms of time imposed on the place. The solution passes through suggesting the creation of a transversal city-river public, allowing for an approximation of high quotas on the waterfront, currently binds the lines of the valleys, with few exceptions. In essence, it is intended to include a new temporal order through a cultural program, regenerating a city section, not only responding to the specific needs of the place (morphological and historical), as well as a contemporary socio-cultural dimension ,through the interaction between artistic interventions and users of the new public space. The architectural involvement of the public route, the control of natural light in public and exhibition spaces, and the mutability of materials, are assumed as central theoretical issues in project-practice basis.
