Uma aventura do átomo: contributo para a construção de uma narrativa histórica com valor pedagógico

Abstract

Num mundo dependente do progresso científico-tecnológico, é com apreensão que assinalamos, a par de alguns autores, o desinteresse pela ciência na educação científica escolar. Consideramos, portanto, imperativo refletir acerca do processo ensino-aprendizagem das ciências. Neste trabalho, destacamos a função que a História e Filosofia das Ciências podem exercer na introdução de alguns aspetos associados à natureza do conhecimento científico. A sua utilização pedagógica, fruto de trabalhos de investigação realizados por professores, poderá constituir um recurso educativo que, ao promover o contacto com as problemáticas que se colocaram aos cientistas, estimula nos alunos a curiosidade e a imaginação, indispensáveis à aprendizagem das ciências. Tendo por base este pressuposto, decidimos elaborar a «Aventura do Átomo», uma narrativa histórica alicerçada na utilização pedagógica da História e Filosofia das Ciências, onde procuramos atribuir sentido, significado e interesse ao conceito de átomo. Paralelamente, e a partir de alguns dos conteúdos desta narrativa, pretende-se desenvolver uma aplicação multimedia. /ABSTRACT - In a world dependent on scientific and technological development, it is with apprehension that we and some authors notice a lack of interest towards scientific education in schools. Thus, we consider the reflection on the science learning-teaching process fundamental. This paper highlights the important role played by the History and Philosophy of Science concerning the introduction of certain aspects related to the nature of scientific knowledge. Its pedagogical usage, resulting fiom research papers carried out by teachers, may constitute an educational resource capable of stimulating students” curiosity and imagination, both necessary to the learning of sciences, by putting them in contact with the problems that troubled scientists. Bearing this in mind, we decided to create the «Adventure of the Atom», a historical narrative based on the pedagogical use of the History and Philosophy of Science, in which We try to provide sense, meaning and interest to the concept of the atom. Simultaneously, it’s also our goal to develop some contents of this narrative into a multimedia application.
