Abstract

O conhecimento e o saber coletivo da organização são temas incontornáveis para a gestão organizacional. As pessoas com as suas capacidades, as novas tecnologias e a propagação de toda a informação são fatores fundamentais à sustentação de novas visões na organização. A necessidade de pessoas especializadas e adaptadas aos sistemas atuais é cada vez mais acentuada. Novos profissionais irão contribuir para novas estratégias organizacionais visando a introdução de políticas e plataformas necessárias na área dos Sistemas de Informação. O Chief Information Officer é o executivo sénior responsável por todos os aspetos que envolvem os Sistemas de Informação e o negócio da organização. A sua função é moldar as Tecnologias de informação em prol da organização. Nas organizações portuguesas, a designação de CIO não é muito comum. A pessoa que desempenha as funções do CIO é chamada de “Diretor ou Líder de Sistemas de Informação” e o seu papel também difere. ***/Abstract - The knowledge and the collective knowing of the organization are themes unavoidable for the organizational management. The people with its capacities, the new technologies and the propagation of all the information are fundamental elements for the maintenance of new visions in the organization. The need of specialized people and adapted to the modem systems it is more and more emphasized. New professionals will contribute to new organizational strategy seeking the introduction of necessary politics and platforms in the area of the Information Systems. Chief Infom1ation Officer is the senior executive responsible for all the aspects that involve the Information Systems and the business of the organization. Its function is to mold the Information Technologies in favour of the organization. In Portuguese organizations, the designation of CIO is not very common. The person that carries out the functions of CIO is called “Director” or “Leader of Systems of Information” and its role also differs.
