Os museus de cidade em Portugal. O Museu da Cidade de Lisboa - estudo de caso

Abstract

A presente dissertação de Mestrado em Museologia tem como tema Os Museus de Cidade em Portugal, particularizando-se a sua análise com o estudo de caso do Museu da Cidade de Lisboa. Tomando como modelo de referência aquela instituição museológica tutelada pelo município, procurámos averiguar se existiam em Portugal outros projectos de museus cuja missão é retratar a evolução urbana das cidades em que estão inseridos. Foram localizadas três situações, no Porto, em Coimbra e Almada, a par de outras iniciativas pontuais, como as exposições temporárias organizadas pelos museus municipais de Vila Real, Chaves ou Penafiel. Interpretando aqueles projectos de museu á luz das teorias sobre a cidade e dos novos conceitos de museologia da cidade divulgados em três simpósios internacionais, a apresentação de novas estratégias de musealização da história urbana foi por nós assumido como um objectivo a alcançar no fim deste trabalho. / *** Abstract - The title of the following essay on Museology's Mastership is The City Museums in Portugal, although the major part of it relies on the Lisbon City Museum, the only portuguese experience in that particular field so far. The enquiry made with the purpose of locating other situations among municipal museums, led us to conclude that in a few years or even months three other city museums will open in Oporto, Coimbra and Almada. Also in Chaves, Vila Real and Penafiel, municipal museums' curators are helding temporary exhibitions on the city’s history, showing the growing interest on the matter. In order to interpret those museums projects, in comparison with the Lisbon City Museum, we felt that it would be important to check other city museums around Europe and America, so that we could, in the end, suggest alternative strategies on the museologic process shown in Lisbon.
