diagnóstico das atitudes face à matemática; ABSTRACT:Mathematics is considered one of the most crucial subjects of the school curriculum.
However, is haunted by the high failure rates of students from different school years. In
attempting to explain this low academic results, investigations point to a relationship
between affective dimensions (beliefs, attitudes and emotions) and teaching-learning
processes (Nuñez et al., 2005).
The aim of this study is, first, develop a tool for assessing the attitudes toward
mathematics to children and young students from Basic Education in Portugal, second,
analyse the relationship between attitudes toward mathematics and personal (gender
and age) and academic variables.
In this study participated 307 students from Basic Education of a school from Évora.
Through the psychometric study is possible conclude that Attitudes Toward
Mathematics Questionnaire (ATMQ) has quite acceptable psychometric properties and,
therefore, promissing for diagnosis of attitudes toward mathematics. |
