Abstract: | O estágio curricular do Mestrado Integrado em Medicina Veterinária possibilitou o
segunda parte deste trabalho.
leves a moderados; ### ABSTRACT: During the training of the Integrated Masters in Veterinary Medicine, it was possible to
follow all activities developed by the veterinary clinic VetAl, in the clinical area of livestock
species. In the five-month period, the area with more expression was preventive medicine.
This is reflected in the number of interventions by species, in which sheep occupy 39.8% of
total interventions. With respect to clinical cases, reproduction was the area with the highest
prevalence, represented 93.3% of cases in cattle, 71.5% in sheep and 97.5% in goats.
The study of gastrointestinal strongylosis in ruminants was developed in the second
part of this work. The genus Haemonchus and Ostertagia have always been a clinical problem.
A case study conducted by the author in 18 ruminant farms in the Portalegre region, showed
that in 86% of cattle farms and 86% of goats and sheep farms, levels of parasitic infection are
mild to moderate. |
