Quilotórax Canino

Title: Quilotórax Canino
Trichosporon asahii, um fungo oportunista raramente descrito neste contexto; - Canine Chylothorax -
Abstract:
Canine chylothorax is characterised by the accumulation of chyle within the
pleural cavity due to alterations in thoracic lymphatic drainage. It may occur secondary
to cardiovascular disease, neoplasia, trauma or abnormalities of the lymphatic system.
When no underlying cause is identified, it is classified as idiopathic. Pleural fluid
accumulation may impair lung expansion and cause dyspnoea, tachypnoea, exercise
intolerance, coughing and lethargy.
Diagnosis is based on cytological and biochemical analysis of pleural fluid,
complemented by diagnostic imaging to investigate the underlying cause. Treatment may
include medical and surgical approaches, such as thoracic duct ligation, cisterna chyli
ablation and partial pericardiectomy.
This study describes a clinical case of canine idiopathic chylothorax, addressing
its diagnosis, treatment and clinical outcome, with particular emphasis on the
identification of Trichosporon asahii, an opportunistic fungal species rarely reported in
this context.

espaço comunitário nos lotes 7 e 9-9ª; - Mouraria From vacant lots to a proposal for architectural housing - Abstract:
This research originates from a study conducted within the course of Research Methodologies
II, during the second semester for the fourth year of the Master's Degree in Architecture,
lectured by Professor João Magalhães Rocha, which consisted of an analysis of the Mouraria
neighbourhood.
In 2008, Architect Maria Lucinda Fonseca Correia developed a detailed plan addressing the lots
that have undergone an intervention in the historic center of Mouraria. However, this plan is
outdated due to the numerous interventions that have occurred since its creation.
Thus, it was essential to carry-out a investigation of the vacant and in state of ruin lots, their
distribution throughout Santa Maria Maior and developing a updated detailed plan of the
historic center of Mouraria.
The investigation incorporates an analysis of the social characteristics of the neighborhood
and explores the interventions made over the past decade, particularly those executed by the
architectural firms “ Artéria” and “ Aurora Arquitectos”. The objective entails developing a
collective housing proposal and a community space in lot 7 and 9-9A.

Title: Hepatite E no Montado Alentejano - Um estudo numa perspectiva integrada "Uma Saúde"
Estes resultados indicam a necessidade de estratégias de prevenção específicas, como a segurança alimentar, a biossegurança e a comunicação dos riscos, salientando a importância da abordagem “Uma Saúde” para a vigilância e o controlo da infeção por HEV nos meios rurais mediterrânicos; Hepatitis E in the Alentejo Cork Oak Forest – A study from an integrated "One Health" perspective - Abstract: Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is an emerging zoonotic agent that has been gaining importance in agro-silvo-pastoral ecosystems such as the Montado, where there is a regular interaction between domestic animals, wild animals and humans. The aim of this study was to determine the presence of HEV in animal and environmental reservoirs, as well as to identify potential risk factors for its transmission. Molecular detection by RT-qPCR allowed the analysis of 335 samples of liver (hunted and road killed animals), faeces from wild and domestic animals, and water. The HEV genome was identified in 29 hepatocellular samples, mainly from wild boar, with a positivity rate of 12.22%, followed by fallow deer (7.40%) and red deer (6.97%). Pooled water or faecal samples did not yield positive results. The results confirm that wild boar is the main reservoir, with a heterogeneous spatial distribution. These results indicate the need for specific prevention strategies, such as food safety, biosecurity and risk communication, highlighting the importance of a ‘One Health’ approach for the surveillance and control of HEV infection in rural Mediterranean areas.
