Title: Generating a European Portuguese BERT Based Model Using Content from Arquivo.pt Archive
Authors: Miquelina, Nuno; Quaresma, Paulo; Nogueira, Vitor
Editors: Yin, Hujun; Camacho, David; Tino, Peter
Abstract: Building a language model from free available internet information
takes several steps and challenges. This new model aims to be a BERT-based language model for Portuguese-European, with no specific context. The corpus was built using a web page archive infrastructure provided by Arquivo.pt and restricted to .pt domains. This paper will describe the overall process of building the corpus and training a BERT model.2022-11-21T00:00:00ZFrom Textual Information Sources to Linked Data in the Agatha Project

Abstract: Automatic reasoning about textual information is a challenging task in modern Natural Language Processing (NLP) systems. In this work we describe our proposal for representing and reasoning about Portuguese documents by means of Linked Data like ontologies and thesauri. Our approach resorts to a specialized pipeline of natural language processing (part-of-speech tagger, named entity recognition, semantic role labeling) to populate an ontology for the domain of criminal investigations. The provided architecture and ontology are language independent. Although some of the NLP modules are language dependent, they can be built using adequate AI methodologies.2020-05-04T23:00:00ZCan We Trust the Health Information We Find Online? Title: Can We Trust the Health Information We Find Online? Identification of Influential Nodes
Authors: Weitzel, Leila; Oliveira, José Palazzo; Quaresma, Paulo; Artigas, Danilo
Abstract: The Internet is becoming increasingly an important source of information for people who are seeking
healthcare information. Users do so without professional guidance and may lack sufficient knowledge
and training to evaluate the validity and quality of health web content. This is particularly problematic
in the era of Web 2.0. Hence, the main goal of this research is to propose an approach to infer user
reputation based on social interactions. Reputation is a social evaluation towards a person or a group
of people. The results show that our rank methodology and the network topology succeeded in achiev

ing user reputation. The results also show that centrality measures associated with the weighted ties
approach suitably controls suitably the ranking of nodes2018-01-01T00:00:00ZEthical Governance for Sustainable Development in Higher Education Institutions: Lessons From a Small-Scale University

Abstract: In contemporary societies, higher education institutions face the impact of globalization, which is mainly demanding in imposing and shaping ethical practices. While higher education systems and dynamics cannot be understood apart from this broader context, its primary focus seems to remain as equal as ever: the creation of knowledge-based societies and economies, education and the creation of socially responsible citizens. Against this background, this chapter aims to present and critically discuss the strategies implemented in a higher education institution towards building a culture of integrity. The empirical focus is a small-scale university located in southern Europe, peripheral to prominent universities
and major countries.2019-01-01T00:00:00Z
