Title: The Influence of Career Choice Intentions on New Venture Creation in Algeria, Sierra Leone, and South Africa
Authors: Fragoso, Rui; Pereira, Renato
Abstract: This paper analyses the influence that career choice intentions, including entrepreneurial
intentions, have on new venture creation among African university students. In addition to that, we explore how social context may affect new venture creation, considering the inner circle of entrepreneurs, the organizational environment and the broader environment. To test our hypotheses, we used data from the 2018 Global University Entrepreneurial Spirit Students’ Survey (GUESSS), focusing on university students from Algeria, Sierra Leone and South Africa. Our findings provide evidence that, in these countries, career choice intentions to become an entrepreneur—either immediately after graduation or five years after
graduation are a good predictor of current new venture creation by university students. We also found an important role of the effectiveness of entrepreneurship education courses for determining new venture creation. Our investigation contributes to filling the gap in the link between career choice intentions and entrepreneurial behavior in Africa.2022-01-01T00:00:00ZEQUASS Certified Social Responsibility Practices in IPSS: Comparative Analysis of Two Case Studies

Authors: Romeiro, Sara; Jorge, Fátima
Editors: Academic Star Publishing Company
Abstract: The present research was carried out within the scope of a master’s degree in management
dissertation and its general objective is to identify and analyze the level of development of social responsibility
practices in Social Solidarity Private Institutions, according to their internal and external dimension and in the
environmental, economic and social aspects, as well as the hierarchy of the relations with all its stakeholders. This
study used the methodology of case studies, with the application of a questionnaire, adapted from EC (2001),
Santos (2010) and Brites (2015), as well as a semi-structured interview script applied to key informants and the
documentary analysis of a very diversified set of elements, provided by two social solidarity private institutions in
Évora’s district, certified under European Quality in Social Services. Concerning the results, it can be guaranteed
we can ensure that the level of development of SR practices is relatively high in the IPSS under study and that
they are sensitized to the incorporation of SR in the organizations’ strategy. It is verified that, in the two IPSS,
there is an increasing bet on quality certification, which has led to the greater formalization of SR practices.2021-05-04T23:00:00ZSegurança e Saúde no Trabalho – Análise da Investigação Publicada na Revista TMQ (2009-2020)

Title: The Sustainable Development Goal 4 and the Impact Ranking: Quality Education in Portuguese Higher Education Institutions
Authors: Nogueiro, Teresa; Saraiva, Margarida; Jorge, Fátima
Abstract: Sustainability based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is currently a relevant
dimension for the competitiveness of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). Portuguese HEIs will have,
therefore, to adapt to the demands of the times and follow the Sustainable Development practices.
Therefore, Quality Education is, then, a factor that allows HEIs to have competitive advantages, given
that Education is a critical success factor for these institutions.
Through a qualitative analysis of articles on the theme of Sustainability in Higher Education and
the THE Impact Ranking platform, we tried to understand the impact that SDG 4 - Quality of Education
has on Portuguese Higher Education Institutions, registered on this platform from 2019 to 2022.
The main conclusion is that SDG 4 does not seem to be considered yet by Portuguese HEIs as a
distinctive factor to obtain competitive advantage in the universe of HEIs.2022-01-01T00:00:00Z
