Abstract: This paper, with its roots from an earth science education research project, is divided in three parts: (i) guidelines of the project and a short reflection about the nature of time with educational implications; (ii) results of the implementation and assessment of new curriculum materials for 12/13 and 17/18 year olds; (iii) final considerations, mainly related to citizenship.
