O “contratado” na poesia africana de expressão portuguesa: os casos de Angola, Moçambique e São Tomé e Príncipe

Abstract

Os eventos relevantes de uma fase pertencente à história de uma determinada sociedade são amiúde retratados nos mais diversos géneros literários. Neles, os autores podem tentar retratar esses fenómenos históricos sob diversas perspectivas e situações. Tal é o caso do Contratado, sobre o qual se escreveu muito no decurso do século XX. Figura histórica e literária incontornável do período colonial, o contratado carece de ser conhecido pelas novas gerações luso-africanas, de modo a ocupar o seu devido lugar na história e na literatura africana em língua portuguesa. Nesta pesquisa, reflectimos sobre a relação entre a história e a produção poética, sobretudo na poesia. Procedemos a uma resenha histórica do surgimento da figura do contratado nas colónias portuguesas, tendo como base os decretos publicados para a legislação desse tipo de trabalho. Apresentamos comentários a trinta e dois poemas pertencentes a escritores angolanos, moçambicanos e santomenses que fazem referência ao contratado nos seus mais variados aspectos, entre outros, o psico-emocional, o socioeconómico e o cultural. Apresentamos também um conjunto de sugestões metodológicas, embasadas na teoria dos quatro pilares da educação – (i) aprender a conhecer, (ii) aprender a fazer, (iii) aprender a conviver e (iv) aprender a ser – para o estudo de textos poéticos sobre o contratado para alunos do ensino secundário na República de Angola; The “contracted” in african poetry in portuguese: cases from Angola, Mozambique, and São Tomé and Príncipe - Abstract: The relevant events of a phase belonging to the history of a given society are often portrayed in the most diverse literary genres. In them, authors can try to portray these historical phenomena from different perspectives and situations. Such is the case of the contracted worker, about whom much has been written during the 20th century. An unavoidable historical and literary figure of the colonial period, the contracted worker lacks knowledge among new luso-african generations, so as to occupy its rightful place in African History and Literature in the Portuguese Language. In this research, we reflect on the relationship between History and poetic production, especially in poetry. We proceed with a historical overview of the emergence of the figure of the contracted worker in the portuguese colonies, based on the decrees published for the legislation of this type of work. We present comments on thirty- two poems belonging to Angolan, Mozambican and São Tomé writers that refer to the contracted worker in its most varied aspects, including the psycho-emotional, the socioeconomic and the cultural. We also present a set of methodological suggestions, based on the theory of the four pillars of education – (i) learning to know, (ii) learning to do, (iii) learning to live together and (iv) learning to be – for the study of poetic texts about the contract for secondary school students in the Republic of Angola.
