Abstract: | The Economy of (Saint) Francesco, known by the acronym EoF, emerged from a proposal by economics professor Luigino Bruni to Pope Francis. The Pope believes that young people are key players in transforming economic, environmental, and social paradigms. The Economy of Francesco movement has been maturing and seeks to co-create a better world, combating inequalities and respecting the political and economic spectrum of each country. A fairer, more supportive economy, committed to combating problems and their causes, such as climate change. From the very beginning of the Economy of Francesco, the problem of poverty has been highlighted, and the “Energy and Poverty” village was created dedicated to a transition to a low-carbon system [...], where the transition is not exclusively clean, but also inclusive (Economy of Francesco, 2022). Within the Economy of Francesco, everyone is invited to (re)think and act to respond to complex issues (Belucio & Fuinhas, 2022). This brief article aims to analyse the issue of poverty (environmental, economic, and social) in the context of the Economy of Francesco Portugal. Therefore, a brief overview of Poverty (in the world and in Portugal), Pope Francis and the Economy of Francesco is presented. Finally, the concluding remarks explore the paths taken, and future perspectives are shared, inspired by the Economy of Francesco. |
