Abstract: An attempt is made to probe the meaning of "normality" as the exercise of everydayness, in its break down within the context of a pandemic, both in the tacit sense of the experience of familiarity with the usual, and in the explicitly normative sense. Adaptation to new patterns of conduct in civil society suggests the widespread idea of a "new normal", post-pandemic, which, however, is nothing but the reassuring ideological reproduction of what has already been sedimented. There is, however, something new, not “normal”, that has been experienced: the loss of feeling immune, that is, the leap into the terrain of mistrust and structural instability. This leap brings to presence the virtual as the human condition, in its uncertainty but also as a possibility. Evidence in pain, as a warning, is therefore also an occasion for an opening up to strangeness
