O problema da Gnosis no Círculo de Eranos

Abstract

O trabalho tem por objetivo compreender o conceito de gnosis e seus desdobramentos filosóficos no Círculo de Eranos ̶ especialmente entre 1933 a 1970 ̶ e em que medida este poderia ser compreendido como um problema filosófico sui generis, uma vez que este parece se compor como um elemento decisivo na formulação de uma nova abordagem acerca do humano. Esta temática, que foi tratada por pensadores como Carl G. Jung, Gershom Scholem, Henry Corbin, Mircea Eliade, Gilles Quispel, Henry-Charles Puech, dentre outros, prolonga a investigação massiva no que ficou conhecido como “História Comparada das Religiões”, mediante uma atitude interdisciplinar, autodenominada hermenêutica e humanista, alicerçada numa fenomenologia das Religiões, na esteira de Gerardus Van der Leeuw. O primeiro capítulo busca apresentar uma breve introdução acerca do Círculo de Eranos e seu significado. O segundo capítulo apresenta uma contextualização histórico-filosófica do ambiente intelectual, social e político em que surgiu o Círculo de Eranos. O terceiro capítulo aprofunda a relevância da noção de gnosis, decisiva para compreender, não apenas a proposta da nova perspectiva antropológica em questão, mas a sua problematização, bem como a caracterização do grupo e a sua inserção epocal. Finalmente, o quarto capítulo atende à conceitualização da gnosis no pensamento de três de seus principais autores: Carl G. Jung, Gershom Scholem e Henry Corbin, de modo que se possa compreender o modo singular com que a gnosis e sua contraparte histórica, o Gnosticismo, são compreendidos organicamente por este grupo. Assim, nossa tese é a de que, o tema da gnosis, a partir de seu contexto problemático, passa a se constituir como um grande elemento articulador das discussões filosóficas travadas no Círculo de Eranos em torno da questão do humano e que esta problemática só pode ser compreendida adequadamente a partir da distinção entre um sentido histórico-factual do Gnosticismo e outro filosófico-narrativo da gnosis; - ABSTRACT: The problem of gnosis in the Eranos Circle This work aims to comprehend the concept of gnosis and its philosophical implications within the Eranos Circle - especially between 1933 and 1970 ̶ and how it could be understood as a philosophical problem sui generis, since it seems to constitute a decisive element in the formulation of a new approach to the human. This theme, which was explored by thinkers such as Carl G. Jung, Gershom Scholem, Henry Corbin, Mircea Eliade, Gilles Quispel, Henry-Charles Puech, among others, extends the massive investigation known as "Comparative History of Religions" through an interdisciplinary approach, self-described as hermeneutic and humanistic, grounded in a phenomenology of religions, following the path of Gerardus Van der Leeuw. The first chapter provides a brief introduction to the Eranos Circle and its significance. The second chapter contextualizes the historical-philosophical environment in which the intellectual, social, and political context of the Eranos Circle emerged. The third chapter explores the relevance of the notion of gnosis, crucial not only for understanding the proposal of the new anthropological perspective in question but also its problematization, as well as the characterization of the group and its epochal insertion. Finally, the fourth chapter addresses the conceptualization of gnosis in the thoughts of three of its main authors: Carl G. Jung, Gershom Scholem, and Henry Corbin, in order to understand the unique way in which gnosis and its historical counterpart, Gnosticism, are organically understood by this group. Therefore, our thesis is that the theme of gnosis, within its problematic context, becomes a major articulating element of the philosophical discussions held in the Eranos Circle concerning the question of the human and that this problem can only be adequately understood through the distinction between a historical-factual sense of Gnosticism and a philosophical-narrative sense of gnosis.
